The day itself, (June 23rd) started out grey and damp and not very welcoming. Fortunately, things improved weather-wise as the itinerary became both interesting and intriguing. Our luxurious bus was indeed most comfortable, and our tour guide very informative regarding the area we were touring.
We visited a Lavender Farm to learn all about it’s establishment, maintenance and quality products. We then proceeded to the venerable Isaiah Tubbs Resort for a scrumptious buffet luncheon which was indeed up to the reputation the facility enjoys… we ate ourselves into emotional security!
Next, we drove to Lake on the Mountain; it’s source a geological phenomenon; and it is a perfect jewel of nature’s bounty… and… oh joy, oh happiness… the sun came out making the vistas even more lovely!
We went on to a local Cheese Factory with a most interesting shop nearby that sold unique items such as unusual and fun signs, jewellery and folk art.
Our final destination was for a Wine Tasting and tour at the quite sophisticated Huff Estates Winery and Vineyards. In my opinion, their presentation was superb; their wines are VQA quality, and many members selected wines to purchase.
Resume: It was a good day, and has given rise to the possibility of a future Day Trip to perhaps The Shaw, or the Stratford Festival… further information forthcoming!
